These Grandfathered Rights are the Public's (your) Constitutional Rights: >1st > Redress of Grievances > 9th > Unenumerated Rights > 13th > Voting Rights > 14th > Equal protection of Law 2 - Transparency: Live, Uneditted Web casts of all Town Council, Board of Ed, Zoning, Planning, Building Needs, Pension, Water Pollution Authority, and more Meetings of Town Treasury. > These allow Tax Payers, Town Council, Town Management convenience to oversee or not what they choose. > Yes, things can be staged by politicians. Yet it is difficult for the staged actions, not be be deconstructed. Example: Being against what a Mayor, Town Attorney, Town council, Education, or Zoning wants politically for plausible deniability or by using legal trickery to circumvent Public Rights or/and Oversight. > No one is going to come out and tell the Public they are steering money from the Public, to themselves or to political allies, who in turn donate or do business with the Political Enactors! > I believe Departmental Expenses and information about pensions and other financial items like Bids, Awards, Change Orders, and more could serve the Public Interest by being available in real time. 3 - I favor the Public Right to Budget Referendums. Ideally representative government has honest and conscientious people working for the Public Interest Realistically, sometimes foxes too often guard hen houses. Although imperfect, a Budget Referendum is a check and balance that when we look around .... > Town < > Education <> Bonding for CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT + PENSIONS + others <> Right to direct the Town / Town Council / Zoning / Education or other to DO or NOT DO SPECIFICS, by PUBLIC VOTE! 4 - Budget cost: * Pensions are out of control nationwide. This Website needs to be linked and expanded, > I have a recent pensioners list, and the Base Pays 47 of the top 58 Pensioners. > About 90 % were hired 1975 -1985 when certain people related to certain presently powerful position were in position to hire. Quid pro quo? > Are there FINDER FEES, being paid to people? * Health Insurance cost about $ 16,000 annually: Town & Eduation = about $ 45 a DAY. Workers=13 % premium > Cinergy is a Health Insurance, unavailable in CT. > $ 6 a DAY for INDIVIDUAL = $ 10 a DAY FAMILY > Are there FINDER FEES /DONATIONS being paid to people at the Capitals of D. C. and Hartford, and to locals? * Is the Purchasing Dept maximizing savings - Is there political steering? * Would transparency improve costs? > Could pooled BASIC Health Insurance cost with something like Cinergy, if made legal = available to all residents? 5 - Revenues: Federal, State and Private GRANTS are the fastest way to offset cost. Economic Development: (instead of intentional? delays: Shakespeare / Avco / Airport / redevelope) LICENSING: especially names of Schools, Buildings, Shakespeare & other assets, can increase revenue. 6 - DIRECT ASSISTANCE to get FINANCIAL AID to RESIDENTS and BUSINESSES: Stratford should make it easier to get FINANCIAL HELP AND RELIEF for Businesses and Residence to access economic relief & revenue GRANTS, LOW INTEREST LOANS, and TAX SAVINGS * Weather proofing * Energy savings * Utility Pooling * Heat Pooling * Health Insurance Pooling * U.S. / CT. Grants * S. B. A./ USA / CT. /PRIVATE Low Interest Loans * Tax Relief: Local+CT.+USA - Senior Tax Relief - Veteran Tax Relief - Lower Taxes & Rates through combined efforts- Public Works: 7 - Education, Library, and Technology: Can generate revenue, savings, and improvement with innovation 8 - Health and Safety: While Police, Fire, & EMS build nothing, yet they are core of first responders for Life & Death issues. I far prefer NOT to have Volunteer Police/Fire (like Shelton or Easton), but well paid pros with good benefits. I believe the honest and patriotic majority of workers simply want a fair deal, like all Americans. Many Town POLICE and FIRE personnel chafe at abusers of pensions and other political issues. It makes THEM look BAD and the head lines are a tip of the ICE BERG! > Baldwin Center sadly provides a badly needed service to very poor senior citizens. > Health Department under appreciated and utilized - core issues. > RAYMARK and AVCO are festering issues. EPA proposed RAYMARK DUMPSITE consolidation is illogical! 9 - TRANSPORTATION: AIRPORT: I am against expansion and against closing airport, unless possibly owned by Stratford and possible (my future announced plan for REDEVELOPMENT) Tax Base benefit Train Station: weather protection & parking needed. Railroad underpass & near I-95 ramps = FLOOD I - 95: Against # 33 ramp expansion = detour Speeding / Walmart Crime / Air-Noise-Water Pollution are local issues I - 15: enhancements are needed 10 - Recreation: Sports Fields, Beaches, Nature assets need nurturing and innovation. Balance use with over use ruining naturalism? - There are Roosevelt Forrest / Long Brook Park and other issues 11 - Public Works: Garbage - Leaf - Snow pick up / Tree - Brush - Grass cut - Dump usage / Pot holes - side walks Snow plow / Improving Buildings and Vehicles - New & repair. NUTS and BOLTS underappreciated services 12 - Rename TOWN HALL for the late, great ED (BEEFY) HARGUS. > Ed was the Town Patron Saint for Senior citizens and moving force for creatin of the Baldwin Center, which is a major source of food and help for senior citizens.> Ed was outspoke watchdog of the Town and Education Actions. My best compliment was for him to call me his political son! My prime interest is stirring the pot, for you to want to run for political office, or get politically involved,
or simply have information, which may change your mind about our candidates.
My concerns are not to be construed as personal attacks! I try to be 100 % political issue oriented.
My best information come from DEMOCRATS and REPUBLICANs, along with town workers / managers.
Many of these people are involved in political office and dealing with other peoples' money, rights, and families.
Their political actions are worthy of both praise and criticism. Some FEAR Color of Law REPRISAL!
People in each party and Town workers tell me they believe I am fair and honest by what has been published in
the Newspapers and believe I desire the best for the Town and people. Then there are others....
Example: I would like to replace Mayor Miron. For years I suggested at Town Council Public Forums that State and Federal GRANTS
are a REVENUE SOURCE, without increasing your Town Taxes. Praise for opposition: Mayor Miron's Grant Writer Christina
Kazanas and her predessor added OVER $ 6,000,000 in NEW OUTSIDE FUNDS from GRANTS & STIMULUS $$! There were over $
60,000,000 applied for. It may turn out that this years taxes may go down, beyond almost $ 4 million less interest on Capital Budget
than each of the last 2 years. (Bipartisan election plannng)
